2-minute AROMATHERAPEUTIC OIL recipe

Aromatherapeutic oil for a calm, present, heart-happy & healthy NY 2023!

A quick recipe that you can use during your meditations, journaling, taking some time-out, when you're sick, massaging your face, hands, feet or any other self-care ritual.

This oil has a lovely, light texture that sinks into the skin leaving it soft and nourished. The gorgeous green color is achieved with the combination of yellow carrier oils and blue tansy essential oil. The scent is relaxing, soothing and calming.

INGREDIENTS

Jojoba oil (INCI: Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil)

With its elegant skin feel, this liquid wax ester penetrates the skin easily and reduces transepidermal water loss by forming a protective layer on the skin. Suitable for all skin types including oily or acne-prone skin due to its sebum production control. It has great spreadability and very good oxidative stability. In skincare products, it enhances a cushiony feel.

Watermelon seed oil (INCI: Citrullus Vulgaris Seed Oil)

With dry texture yet highly moisturizing properties, this lightweight oil sinks easily into the skin. It helps to balance, soothe and maintain nourished skin. With a high % of linoleic acid it targets fine lines, fortifies skin barrier function and has anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it a great choice for damaged, problematic and acne-prone skin as well. It has a lovely skin feel that is absorbed into the skin easily and makes the perfect duo with jojoba oil.

Vitamin E (INCI: Tocopherol)

Active ingredient and antioxidant for skin care preparations, effective antioxidant agent. Besides protecting the lipids from rancidity and extending the shelf-life of the product, it also has anti-inflammatory properties, combats cell damage, and helps maintain natural skin moisture and elasticity.

Make sure to use a naturally-sourced one, that preferably contains mixed tocopherols.

Essential oil blend

You could go with any essential oil blend you prefer or enjoy most. Here I'm sharing my current favorite that also imparts a gorgeous green color to the final product. Since this is an aromatherapeutic product I've incorporated a slightly higher essential oil total content, than I normally would - 2% (normally I would use 1% for the face).

Lavender essential oil (INCI: Lavandula Angustifolia Oil)

A sparkling, deep-floral, rich scent, a good all-around essential oil. It is widely used to alleviate skin problems and skin regeneration, to promote sleep and calm the nervous system.

Mandarin essential oil (INCI: Citrus Reticulata Oil )

Sweet, vibrant, citrusy and fresh, mandarin essential oil is uplifting for the body and mind. It will leave you feeling optimistic and refreshed.

Blue tansy essential oil (INCI: Tanacetum Annuum Flower Oil)

Blue Tansy essential oil has a herbaceous, sweet, warm, and camphoraceous aroma and contains the naturally occurring constituent chamazulene, which gives it a deep-blue color. The scent can be a bit overpowering so I like to use it in small amounts and combining it with other floral and citrusy oils. It is perfect for sensitive skin and has been used traditionally to reduce nasal congestion and for its calming effects.
