Don't let me start this blog post with sorrow and misery, complaining over my life without a tub.
Too late :P.
If you can feel my pain, I have a perfect solution for the both of us - making tub tea for the lucky friends who have a tub (+ highly increasing the opportunity that they invite us over sometimes - tub rental included).
If you're one of the lucky ones (now it's not the time for jealousy and resentment) hope you enjoy the luxury it offers you. The tub tea formula that I'm sharing with you is going to make a well-deserved tribute to your tub (and yourself).
What is bath/tub tea and how is it different from bath salt?
Both bath salts and tub teas are normally a mixture of different salts, dry plant material, and essential oils that provide aromatherapy benefits along with skin-soothing properties and muscle relaxation.
Bath salt is normally stored in a jar, while tub tea (as the name suggests) is packed in a filter bag that offers the bonus of a mess-free bathing experience (no cleaning of herbal bits after the water has drained - nice!)
Christmas is just around the corner and if you're looking for that perfect last-minute DIY skincare gift, these will make a fast, and handy solution for your dear ones (fast tip: if your gift recipient doesn't have a bath you can name them foot soak or face steamer - you're welcome ;)).
I've prepared a super simple (and safe!) 4-ingredient base formula that you can upgrade as you want and desire.
Formula:
84 % salt of your choice (or a mixture of salts)
10 % tapioca starch (natrasorb bath)
5 % dry herbs
1 % essential oil (click here for more guidelines on how to use essential oils safely in the bath)
Method:
Combine tapioca starch with essential oils and mix well. Add the salts and herbs, then transfer to a tea filter bag.
